The service fundamentally supports the strategy of Abbey Multi Academy Trust by providing a comprehensive, confidential and professional support service in all aspects of governance and compliance to the Trust and its academies.
The department supports the service users and provides comprehensive strategic and operational guidance and advice relating to all aspect of governance and compliance issues, supporting and promoting the agreed ethos, aims and expectations of the Trust.
The governance and compliance department provide the following services to academies within the Trust:
General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
- Acting as first point of contact and link for the Trust as the Data Protection Officer
- Development of the Trust’s response to the introduction and development of GDPR
- Creation of the guidance and documentation to support the process
- Dissemination of the roles, responsibilities and actions required to ensure that the Trust remains compliant with GDPR
- Dealing with queries from colleagues on GDPR matters
- Liaising with colleagues to ensure that all of the required evidence is obtained and disclosed as appropriate
- Ensuring that any required response is made within the specified time limits
Governance Support
- Provide support to colleagues on Governance issues
- To ensure that the Trust files its statutory returns in a timely manner
- To liaise with outside agencies as required
Freedom of Information
- Acting as first point of contact and link for the Trust
- Assessment of all requests falling under this heading, and developing an appropriate response
- Advising colleagues on what information should be disclosed
- Liaising with colleagues to ensure that all of the required evidence is obtained and disclosed as appropriate
- Ensuring that any required response is made within the specified time limits
Subject Access Requests
- Acting as first point of contact and link for the Trust
- Assessment of all requests falling under this heading, and developing an appropriate response
- Advising colleagues on what information should be disclosed
- Liaising with colleagues to ensure that all of the required evidence is obtained and disclosed as appropriate
- Ensuring that any required response is made within the specified time limits
Insurance
- To investigate and follow up any insurance claims that might result in a liability claim on the Trust
- To advise colleagues on what information is required and the timescales they are required in
- To liaise with the Trust’s Insurers on the progress of any potential claim and supply additional information as required
General
- To provide advice and guidance to colleagues on all compliance matters
- To provide ad-hoc support to colleagues on policies and procedures
- To review changes in legislation and educational policy and advise colleagues on the implications to the Trust
