Staff Profile

Gemma Conti
Ebacc (Secondary)

Gemma Conti has had a passion for teaching and learning ever since she started her undergraduate degree at Lancaster University studying Geography. Gemma then went on to complete a PGCE in Geography at Manchester Metropolitan University. She initially worked at Upper Batley High School where she gained experience working with pupils from a range of backgrounds and took on the role of Coaching Coordinator.

With a keen desire to teach A level, Gemma moved onto Heckmondwike Grammar School, one of the highest performing schools in Kirklees. Here she taught across a range of Key stages and was appointed to the role of Teacher Development Specialist, where she was working in a team set up to support teaching and learning across the school. Whilst here she also completed her National Qualification of Middle Leadership and completed a project around the engagement of male students in education.

Gemma took on the role of Lead practitioner for Ebacc in June 2018 with the aim that all students across the MAT have equal opportunities when it comes to their education with a key focus on quality first teaching. Gemma is excited to be part of the Abbey MATs journey to educate, nurture and empower our young people.
