Niamh Gee believes her creative lessons are borne from her training across Key Stage 2 and 3 where she undertook extensive practice in the primary classroom. Graduating with a first class honours degree in Education with Mathematics from Edge Hill University in 2012, Niamh initially worked in the newly established Manchester Communications Academy where she gained experience working with pupils from a range of backgrounds and took on the role of Numeracy Coordinator.
With a desire to teach A level, Niamh moved to St Mary’s Catholic Voluntary Academy, one of the leading comprehensive schools in the region, in 2014. Here she worked across the range of Key Stages, took on the role of Key Stage 3 coordinator and trained as an SLE. She also began outreach at this time, leading the TSST course designed to train non-specialist teachers in maths pedagogy.
A firm believer that education provides the foundation for social mobility, Niamh took on the role of Lead Practitioner for Maths with the Abbey MAT in 2017 with the aim of ensuring all young people have access to quality first teaching. She is excited to be a part of the journey that all staff and students at Bishop Young Academy have embarked upon
