Olivia joined the English department at Abbey Grange as an NQT in 2012. After just one year, she progressed to become the teaching and learning leader for English with a focus on Key Stage 3 provision, improving schemes of work and reinventing the way in which summative feedback is given to students. She later added to her role to also become a Digital Leader during the critical implementation of iPads in to the school; she lead staff training and gave support on how to use the iPads in the most effective way to improve teaching and learning in the classroom. As a result of her knowledge and expertise within the classroom, she was also appointed to the role of Leader of Learning, supporting staff at all levels in ‘outstanding’ teaching and learning with a focus on lesson planning and classroom management.

From 2015 to 2017, she took on a new role within the English department as Achievement Leader with a focus on achievement at Key Stage 4, analysing school data and co-ordinating and leading on intervention across year groups. The highlight of this being the outstanding

GCSE results attained during this time with 74% of students achieving grades 9-5. Alongside this role, she worked collaboratively to co-ordinate ITT provision across the Academy, working together with Leeds Trinity University and successfully mentoring several trainee teachers in English and in other subject areas. In 2016, Olivia became a Learning and Teaching Specialist for Leeds Learning Partnerships where she planned and delivered training to subject leaders of English across Leeds in Subject Leader Development Meetings and conferences.

In 2017, Olivia joined the Lead Practitioner team and has enjoyed delivering CPD and supporting staff across the MAT. She recently received her Masters in Education with Teacher Inquiry in 2018 which concluded in an action-research dissertation on teaching and learning strategies which improved academic outcomes for disadvantaged boys in English.

During the school holidays, Olivia enjoys travelling the globe with her husband, Dean. Her favourite corner of the world being South East Asia where she can experience the beautiful sunsets, culture and food.
